Has Hillary cost herself the black vote

Ive' been hearing alot of this as well today, no one is buying the Clinton "apology"

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/
Kelsey Morgan, a sales rep in Philadelphia, e-mails:

As someone who basically works from their car, I listen to a lot (OK, way too much) black radio. I can tell you the palpable sense of betrayal and the absolute feeling that African-Americans have been stabbed in the back by someone they thought was their friend has been overwhelming over the airwaves the past 36 hours. Over and over again, I've heard caller after caller they say they'll never vote for Hillary even if she's the nominee.

Now if she's nominated she's got an angry base against her, good job Hillary!

Re: Has Hillary cost herself the black vote (none / 0)

If Huckabee gets the nod, and it's Hillary for the Dems, I'd say the black vote could be in play. Huckabee got 47% of the black vote in Arkansas in his last election, and there are quite a few evagelical blacks across the country. Blacks are loyal to family connections, but they can move fast.

I live in LA, where blacks voted overwhelmingly for James Hahn against Antonio Villaraigosa in 2001 because his father Kenneth Hahn was very popular with blacks. After Hahn subsequently fired the popular black police chief, blacks switched to Villaraigosa and he lost his reelection campaign.

For what it's worth, I don't think any other Republican candidate would have much of a chance to break off much of the black vote.

I think so to, she's not going to be president one way or another.

I agree. And your point is?

Clinton's camp injected the image of Obama as DRUG-DEALER. This concern has NEVER been raised concerning ANY other white candidate that has admitted to prior drug use.

That's what will anger many black folks.

Of course they don't condone drug use.

Sock puppets are supposed to make convincing arguments. I'm not sure Seymour would know one of those if it was ten feet tall and painted orange.

Re: Has Hillary cost herself the black vote (2.00 / 1)

I kinda think Huckabee gave up on the black vote when he hired Ed Rollins, infamous suppressor of the black vote in NJ, to be his campaign manager.

Re: Has Hillary cost herself the black vote (none / 0)

LOL. Now that is funny. I don't know what planet you are from, but more than 90% of Blacks have a favorable few of the Clintons (HRC and the Big Dog). So you are mistaken. If Clinton gets the nomination she will cream whoever the Repugs put forth on the Black vote front.

People may be angry today, but if she is the nominee they'll have several months to get over it.

How many Dean supporters said they would never vote for Kerry? And how many followed through and actually did not vote for Kerry?

Re: absolutely right (2.00 / 1)

I think the emails are all smoke and screen. As someone said, the majority of Black people hate drug users and deal dealers. We are a forgiving race, don't get me wrong. But Blacks in general don't like drugs and what they have done to our communities and our people. Someone as educated and privledged as Barry should have known better. He gave up the drugs and became a very successful politican. He's one of the lucky and strong ones. In addition, if most Blacks take the time to actually read Shaheen comments, which most will do before passing judgement,  won't be influenced by the MSM spin. Although, heresay can be damaging.

Re: Has Hillary cost herself the black vote (none / 0)

The 47% figure for Huckabee and the black vote has been debunked elsewhere. The number isn't in the least statistically sound or verifible. It should be considered nothing more than a claim he made that can't be verified.

I don't know why she ever "had" the black vote in the first place.

Re: Has Hillary cost herself the black vote (2.00 / 1)

Oh please, I hope African-American's are not as gullible or hyper-sensitive otherwise how will they get through a would be Obama presidency let alone campaign. Its not as if African-Americans' have their very own candidate anyway. The choice foisted on them by MSM white liberals is Kenyan-American anyway and I don't see the Kenyan-American population up in arms. In any case the black vote is a rapidly dwindling asset. The Hispanics in the west and increasingly in the south are a more formidable block as Republicans brutally realize. All this hand wringing over Barack will get African-Americans no where fast. Ultimately they must vote their interests.

Re: Has Hillary cost herself the black vote (none / 0)

OK, so now Obama isn't a real African-American now.

Let's see:

(1) Community Organizer in the black community

(2) Member of a Black church

(3) Married to a black woman.

(4) And if he was famous, he'd have trouble hailing cab in most major cities...because he's black.

That's good enough.

Re: Has Hillary cost herself the black vote (none / 0)

You can define black any way that makes you culturally comfortable with Obama, isn't that the genius of  your candidate? All things to all people? He is afterall the post-racial president, as he likes to remind us. You may not like to hear it, and the campaign for now underplays it,  but Obama is half Kenyan, his late father is from a village in Siaya, Nyanza province and the Obama family clan still live there. That's the "black" or rather, as I prefer to note, the African half of his identity. Everything else is for the moment a marketing accessory for domestic consumption.

Re: Has Hillary cost herself the black vote (none / 0)

I think there is no doubt she has hurt herself with respect to black voters in the primaries.

Thing is that won't matter in New Hampshire and Iowa and THAT is her campaign's calculation.

At least thats the way I see it.
